About Us

Emad Al Monayea

Emad Al Monayea joined Vaayu Group in 2017. He is the Chairman and President, and visionary of the Group.

Before joining Vaayu Group, Emad was the Board Director and CEO of Kuwait Finance House Investment Co. (formerly Liquidity Management House) for 9 years, and brings more than 37 years of experience in direct investment and corporate finance, in government and private sectors. Emad joined Kuwait Finance House, Kuwait (KFH) in 1999 as the Deputy Director of the Direct Investment Department, the private equity arm of KFH. In 2004 he was appointed to head the International Investment Department of KFH, responsible for international corporate finance, debt capital markets products, and investment banking services. During his tenure at the International Investment Department, Emad and his team succeeded in structuring and arranging several international landmark transactions and won various international awards for KFH in the Islamic corporate and investment banking arena. In 2008, KFH entrusted him to establish Liquidity Management House (renamed KFHIC) with the mandate to evolve as an international Sukuk house in addition to its global corporate finance and financial advisory services activities.

Before joining KFH, Emad was with Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA), the sovereign wealth fund of the Government of Kuwait, for 15 years. During that time, he was instrumental in setting up the Direct Investment Department of KIA.

Emad is a frequent speaker at leading International Banking Conferences and is a significant contributor to the development of Islamic capital markets and direct investments.

Emad holds a BSc degree from Kuwait University and the Executive Finance program from INSEAD, France. He also attended the Strategies for Effective Negotiation, Persuasion, and Decision-Making program, conducted by Harvard University, USA.

Vijay Arumbakkam

Vijay is the Co-Founder of Vaayu Group, established in 2011, focusing on the Aviation, Advisory & Logistics sector. Today he is our CEO and catalyst facilitating the Group’s expansions through new start-ups, mergers and acquisitions in the Aerospace & Aviation Sectors.

Before establishing Vaayu Group, Vijay had a string of successful careers as the Chairman of Aero Gulf Norway AS, Deputy CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority, Director KPMG MESA, Partner KPMG Lower Gulf, Director KPMG, Singapore & Asia Pacific and Director of Ernst & Young, Singapore & Asia Pacific.

With 30 years of experience working with clients across Singapore, Asia Pacific, Middle East /Africa, and South Asia markets specializing in Corporate Finance and Mergers & Acquisitions, Vijay has excellent relationship and track record working with Aviation Companies, Banks (Investment and Commercial), Multi-lateral Financial Institutions (ADB, EBRD, IFC) and key senior decision-makers across a broad spectrum of industry sectors with a particular focus on Sovereign Wealth Funds and the Transportation Sector – Aviation & Ports.

Vijay is a notable speaker at leading International Aviation Conferences and is a significant contributor to the development of the MRO Industry with a particular focus on the narrow body aeroengine segment.

Having completed his Bachelor of Engineering Degree from Government College of Technology, India, he obtained his MBA from Bond University, Australia.

Vijay is an Alumnus and Fellow of The Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania, (Advanced Management Program), USA.

Meena Arumbakkam

Meena is the Co-Founder of Vaayu Group, established in 2011, focusing on the Aviation, Advisory & Logistics sector. As our Chief Legal Officer, she works closely with the Group’s service providers and international law firms in Middle East, and various American, European and Asian jurisdictions where Vaayu Group has a remarkable growing presence.

Before establishing Vaayu Group, Meena worked as a legal professional with KPMG Bahrain & Qatar and Lower Gulf (UAE & Oman). Her primary responsibility was to provide professional advice to local and foreign clients in Companies Law, Mergers & Acquisitions, Public Listing, Financial Institutions and Banks.

Meena’s experience includes working as an Advocate & Solicitor at a Singapore private law firm specializing in Litigation, focusing on Company Law, Criminal Law, Conveyancing, Family Law, Shipping and Admiralty, Freight Forwarding, Banking and Corporate Finance.

Meena graduated with LLB (Hons) from the National University of Singapore and was admitted to the Bar, Supreme Court of Singapore in 1995. She also served as a Diplomat (Foreign Service Officer) with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singapore (Policy, Planning, and Analysis).

Colin Koh

Colin Koh is the General Manager of Air Transport Training College (ATTC). He is a Life member (Fellow) of the Singapore Institute of Aerospace Engineers (SIAE), actively involved representing the Singapore Institute of Adult Education (IAL) arena as Associate Adult Educator. Colin joined ATTC as the Head of Skills Training in September 2016 and was acting GM in January 2018 and assumed the GM position in May 2018.

Before joining ATTC, Colin worked at SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) from 1973 to 2013. He brings valuable in-depth experience handling Aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) operation, Cabin Maintenance, Aircraft Maintenance Tools and Equipment Support, Production Control Planning, Joint-Venture, and Partnership at SIAEC.

Colin was the Operations Manager at Singapore JAMCO, a SIAEC subsidiary dealing with Aircraft Galleys, Meal Carts, and Cabin Interior Manufacturing from 2002 to 2004. He has a current Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s Licence issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS).

Colin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Operation and a Master’s Degree in International Business from the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), a Master’s Degree in Industrial Organization Psychology and HR Management from the City University of New York (CUNY), the Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers and Trainers (CIDTT) and the Singapore WSQ Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA) qualification.
